My God. My grandfather was at the Meusse-Argonne driving a truck up to the front lines. He carried ammo and medical supplies up and bodies back. He might have crossed paths with Sam. People praise the "Greatest Generation" of WWII but I think their parents might have been tougher.

I agree. Having visited some of those WWI battlefields, the trenches, the cemeteries, and pairing them with books, documentaries and oral histories before, during and after that trip. Geez. The trenches did me in.
