Oh, Lori… a three hanky, five-star classic. This would be a beautiful children’s story. Have you already published it? 🥹

Thanks! Only here 😉🎄🤶🏻

Great idea. I could see a collection of these stories in a Children's book. I would buy it for my grandchildren.

Well…I’m not letting the cat out of the bag quite yet, but I have been doing a wee bit of fiction writing of late…😉

Is that the feint tiptoe of a children’s book series I hear?

Barbara at Projectkin's avatar

So would I! I would buy for my grandnieces and nephews. 🥰

The most heart warming story I have read this year this just so beautiful and restores your faith in human kindness Lori.

A fabulous story expertly told. My eyes got so bleary with tears I had to find tissues before I could finish reading it!

Lori, what a joyful tale, made even more magical since it is based on a true story. I am also playing with "re-imagining" some of my family's stories. This is a shining example!

Truly a magical story. Love that you took a bit of history (journalistic filler) and turned into into a beautiful tale. A story worthy of an annual Christmas read.

Thanks so much! I’m glad you enjoyed it and hope you’ll pull it out next year for some good cheer and vibes 🤶🏻

Beautiful writing and story. I will think about this over the next few days as I feel something even deeper is in this story if that is even possible. I will be with my family all adults now. I may try to read it to them and risk them having to indulge me. That is how much is here in this gentle fine story.

Thanks so much, @Jeanne, I hope your family enjoys it!

Thank you for writing it and sharing.

I am off to travel now . Will be taking you along to Kennebunk Maine for Christmas at a snowy cabin.

Fabulous story, Lori, and genius to fictionalise it through the eyes of the porter.

Absolutely loved this story!! Just what was needed today, a good cry, smiles, tenderness, and a happy ending. Before I even looked at the comments, my brain was shouting, "This would make a charming book!" Looks like the feeling is universal. Well done!

What a beautiful Christmas story Lori. I just had to go back and read it for a second time. It's an amazing story, told so well.

Pass the Kleenex!

Grok says you write like Hemmingway. Regardless, good work.

Lori Olson White's avatar

I don’t drink enough to write like Hemmingway 😂

There’s always hope. But maybe just get a six toed cat.

A wonderful Christmas story. It takes a child’s eyes to help see the meaning of Christmas.
