I appreciate these stories of the women behind the men who tend to hog all the attention. With all those babies, no wonder most women didn’t have time to seek the limelight—though of course some did, and your excellent storytelling brings it all to light! Thanks, Lori, and congrats on reaching the one-year milestone!
Thanks, Ruth! Since most of my stories focus in on one individual, it can be hard to really dig into the stories of their family and friends, so this has been a fun project for me, too. It’s also such a good reminder that every story can be told from countless other perspectives, each of which changes the story - often in remarkable and unexpected ways. Something I am acutely aware of after digging deeper into next week’s story of William Eckman, the guy who went down the river with George Gardner.
You’re so right about the multiple viewpoints possible in storytelling. It’s one of the reasons truth can seem a bit slippery at times (aside from politics these days!) I look forward to next week’s installment, Lori.
Another masterpiece Lori another wonderful way of storytelling by introducing the B list actors! By shining a light on the characters that maybe were not in the spotlight in the original stories is yet another great idea!
I am enjoying hearing about the 'minor' characters in your stories who, of course, are not minor at all ... They just need the spotlight turned on them. Very much looking forward to hearing about William Ekman next time. I know there must be a story in there somewhere!
Wow, this is like watching the final scenes after a movie, where they reveal what happened to the characters you've grown to care about so much.
Right? I have really enjoyed returning to these stories and doing the research. Might be doing more of it…🤷♀️

Thanks, @Paul! It’d always challenging to pick one person’s story to tell and put aside the others, so this was great fun!
